After spending months looking around and talking to others, reading reviews and weighing up the pros and cons I decided on the Peception Freedom Angler as I am 6ft 4inc and 15st and it seemed to be just the thing for our waters overhere in Jersey ( Channel Islands not USA ) needed something not to heavy,stable that I could get on and off the beaches when there is a bit of surf and handle well in amongst the rocks on the East coast of the Island. It is good in a light surf for launching and landing, it has agood turn of speed handles the overfalls and chop well have fished in a moderate swell with no problems it drains well I would reccomend the freedom to any any one on the tall side

i currently use a perception freedom beach i have used it in rivers for fun and in the sea jigging for cod & mackerel. in the sea it has excellent all round ability for stability handling choppy sea and putting distance behind it when needed , it is not ideal for tight rivers as it tracks as straight as a cargo ship and needs a bit effort to turn it in tight narrow places. plan on buying a seat backrest and you might need the footrest if you have short legs, all in all i am a 100% happy bunny as i bought it for sea fishing,

i have the perception freedom beach, and use it for river runs and sea fishing, it handles the swell waves and chop without fuss and feels very safe , it likes to track straight, and it is as capable of covering distance as well as other brands of similar length. can be a handful to turn on tight rivers so id recommend something shorter for whitewater river use, but in the sea you wont be disappointed, i highly recommended it and think its possibly one of the best general purpose sea kayak for its price, once in open sea it feels reassuringly well built and gives confidence that you could explore further. needs a seat or backrest as most kayaks do for comfort, so dont forget to buy the backrest.
