Scooter

The Perception Squirt is a great all-round kayak that offers excellent stability and user friendly handling.

A flared bow and tracking hull give smooth predictable performance to all paddler abilities even in choppy conditions.

User reviews of the Perception Kayaks Scooter

Awesome. Have had a Yak Board and a Pelican Apex and this outdoes them both by a long way. Suitable for Surfing, cruising and fishing. I love my scooter..

as a surf ski user i was finding little stability in rough surf so after a friend advised me i purchased a scooter and i was amazed how stable and fun it was so i took it out in a rough sea and it only managed to throw me once the whole day and when others quit due to the weather getting worse and the surf hitting 3-4 feet i just enjoyed it more, if anyone is thinking of investing in a kayak get a scooter as its a great all rounder for beginners or enthusiasts alike. i am now selling my surf ski and sticking with the scooter

I've had a scooter for 2 years now,i've pimped mine for fishing and its great. Handles quite rough seas well (a bit more length would be nice but that would only add weight and cut down on manouverability), had some great fun and hope to have a lot more. Brian (CORNWALL).

only started kayaking 12 months ago,i'm 55 years old and wish i started years ago. tried two other sit on owned by friends but for me they dont come near the scooter for all round ease of use and fun. decked mine out with extras for fishing now, can't wait to get out off the coast here in cornwall and try it all out.

I am a large (6' 3" bloke) and it is still stable. It surfs well on the shoulder but is harder to control on a broken wave. Back rest and knee straps are essential for surfing if you want steering and balance control. Only comment for surfing is that rear open storage area fills with water and that affects the handling and weight of the boat. Good and light for on roof transporting and the addition of a trolley for getting on to the beach is well worth the money. I converted an old golf trolley for the purpose but that eventually gave up and bought a proper one - excellent ! Make sure you buy an appropriate paddle for what you are going to use the boat for. I had a touring paddle for 2 years of surfing - then bought a more rigid blade and shorter paddle length and the control and speed difference were immediate and very noticable.

I have had my Scooter for a couple of years now and it's been fun, fun, fun. In the surf it is more than capable. On lakes and rivers it's a joy, and white water very stable. It does'nt track as well as the frenzy but wipes the floor with it in ever other aspect. Six of my mates have now bought one each, and my mate with the frenzy wishes he had too!

Just bought mine,I am new to kayaking and nearly fifty so I wanted something I felt safe on.The first time I used it was on windermere in 35mph winds. It performed well in the choppy waters and tracking was impressive,I managed to keep it straight, right from the begining, even in 2ft waves.I got a bic backrest with mine and this proved very comfortable.I did manage to flip it fairly easily when testing how far over it would go,however under normal use it was very stable. For me the absolute plus is the ease with which it can be transported on a roof rack and then carried to launch point.Hours of fun sum up this little kayak.

I concur with the other reviews, the Scooter is incredibly stable and tracks well. I bought mine just under a year ago to accompany my wife in her Perception Sparc, which included seal launches off steep river banks - what a hoot! I too use thigh straps, but also haven't found a need for a back rest. Great fun on the sea (Solent), especially when choppy! The stowage for day trips is good and it is also easy to transport on top of the car on the roof rack. As a final point I would have to say speed isn't its greatest virtue, but this is more than made up for with its stability. I would highly recommend the Scooter for anyone new to the sport of kayaking.

Great kayak. Have used on river & on sea, also on Dorset coast. Would recommend this for any one wanting a single seater sit-on - very stable, yet great manoeuvrability.
- Darren (Bournemouth)

Great little sit-on, floats like a cork! Great in the sea and copes well with waves/swell, doesn't track as well as longer boats or those with a more pronounced keel like the Frenzy, the front of the boat can get a bit slappy in small wind blown waves due to the flat nose, surfs well although thigh straps are a must for this! Have not found need for back-rest as of yet. Overall, you will not be disappointed the quality of the Perception boats in my opinion exceeds that of Ocean Kayak! This review, as with the first, is also based on experience on the Dorset coast.
