Building on the success of 2012’s National Go Canoeing Week, this year’s festival of paddling kicks off 18th – 26th May.
During the week-long celebration there will be plenty of ways to get involved – whether you’re a beginner looking to take their first tentative steps or a seasoned pro wanting to promote the benefits and stoke of paddlesports. If you’re searching for an event or activity then hit up the website gocanoeing.org.uk to see what’s going down in your neck of the woods.
Get out there!
If there’s nothing floating your boat then you can still show support by heading out for a ‘spoon’, using National Go Canoeing Week as an excuse – just get wet and have fun.
It could be a group of mates heading to the coast for some surf action, a solo mission to your favourite whitewater river spot, a family adventure along your nearest canal or a gentle meander circumnavigating the distance of your local lake – it’s entirely up to you.
Get out on the water during National Go Canoeing Week and shout about your passion or reignite your love for all things paddle.
As an added incentive the NGCW, Go Canoeing have teamed up with green cleaning product manufacturer, Ecover, and are offering a bunch of prizes for anyone keen to snap away during the week.
When you next go for a float, take your camera, shoot a few pictures and you could be in with a chance of winning £100 of Cotswold Outdoors vouchers and an Ecover hoody and t – shirt. More details can be found at gocanoeing.org.uk/go/index.cfm/national-go-canoeing-week/photo-competition/
Paddle with an Olympian
There’s also the chance to win the opportunity to paddle with an Olympic medallist and nab a two night family stay in a National Trust Lake District camping pod. To stand a chance of winning, sign up to the Go Canoeing mailing list, before the end of May, and you’ll be entered into the draw.
